Release date: 15th Apr 2010

ercon_ncc.jpgUltraVision's KeraSoft® IC contact lens, a soft lens for all irregular corneas including keratoconus, recently showcased at the Netherlands Contact Lens Congress (NCC) by UltraVision's Dutch distributor, Ercon Contactlenzen. Irregular Cornea and Keratoconus Consultant, Lynn White MSc FCOptom, attended on behalf of UltraVision, along with Gareth Beynon a KeraSoft® IC patient, and co-founder of the Irregular Cornea Foundation, where they co-presented a lecture, sponsored by Ercon.

During the presentation Lynn provided visiting practitioners with information on fitting specialty lenses in order to compete with internet disposable sales, a subject close to every practitioner's heart in the current climate.  Lynn also talked about why irregular cornea patients are a growing market and what those patients demanded in terms of lifestyle.

The session ended with a section on how KeraSoft® could deliver these demands; Gareth contributed by talking about his life with RGPs and how it had improved with KeraSoft® soft lenses.  This really helped the audience of around 100 practitioners understand the issues their patients can have on a day-to-day basis, and how the correct contact lens can really change someone's life for the better.

Erik Smidt from Ercon commented 'Gareth's presentation, covering the effect of KeraSoft® IC lenses on patients quality of life, was extremely powerful; he helped us to understand the value of KeraSoft® even more than we did before bringing home to us the massive potential that KeraSoft® IC can have in patients' lives.  Lynn White, through her many years of experience in fitting IC patients, is a strong advocate of soft lenses for irregular corneas; it was a privilege to have her present our sponsored lecture and we would like to thank her for being available on the stand afterwards to offer advice.'
